Who's up at 3 AM chasing turts?

We are! The early morning telemetry shift was uneventful considering the visibility and the fact that the turts were sleeping in the reservoir (do turtles sleep?). Thank you to Kat for joining me. The male Great-horned Owl was watching over us and his little ewok, which Kat found in one of its perching sites. The adult was hooting for most of our shift. Cottontails were seen hopping about in addition to a photo shy Western Toad feeding its fat belly on the road.

A reminder to those helping on the project: slow down and watch for wildlife on the road through the Range. No animal pancakes please.
